The following are the list of Awards conferred from the Karnataka Chapter of Anatomists during the Annual Conference

1. “Dr. Sayee Rajangem Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Genetics, Bengaluru.
2. “Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College Gold medal award” for best paper in Gross Anatomy, Kolar.
3. “Sri Jalappa Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Neuroanatomy Anatomy, Kolar.
4. “Karnataka Institute of Medical Science Gold medal award” for best paper in Clinical Anatomy, Hubli.
5. “Dr. Jawahar Y. Kadam Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Histology, Hubli.
6. “Mookambika Gold Medal Award” for the “Best Paper Presented” at the annual KCA Conference by Dr. Mrs. S. Kantha Bengaluru.
7. “Dr. Mrs S. Kantha Gold medal award” for best paper published in Anatomica Karnataka Bengaluru.
8. “Dr. Prakash H.S. Gold Medal Award” for the “Maximum Papers Published Per Year” in KCA journal & in any other journal by life members of KCA.
9. “Sushuratha Gold Medal Award” for Excellence in the field of Anatomy by Dr. N.M. Suresh, Bengaluru (Note: – Two awards are awarded in each year: – 1. Posthumous; 2. Lifetime).
10. “Dr. B.R Ramesh Gold Medal Award” for thebest outgoing postgraduate by Dr. Prakash B.S, Bengaluru.
11. “Dr. P.S. Bhusaraddi Gold Medalaward in Anatomyfor MBBS” in RGUHS examination by Dr. P.S. Bhusaraddi, KIMS, Hubli.
12. “Dr. Nagesh Gold MedalAward in Anatomy for BDS” in RGUHS examination by R.V. Dental College, Bengaluru.
13. Dr. N.Thakar Naik Oration Award by Dr. Mr.S. kantha.
14. Dr. Y. Appaji Oration Award by Dr. B.S. Prakash.
15. “Shri G. Dayanand Oration Lecture”sponsored by SSIMS& RI, Hesargatta, Bengaluru.
16. “Dr. R. Viswanath Oration Lecture”sponsored by his students, Hubli 1984 batch (Images’84).

CRITERIA FOR KCA AWARD PAPERS
A. Rules and regulations for presenting Award papers (Sl. No. 1 – 6) during annual KCA conference: –
1. “Dr. Sayee Rajangem Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Genetics, Bangalore.
2. “Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Gross Anatomy, Kolar.
3. “Sri Jalappa Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Neuroanatomy Anatomy, Kolar.
4. “Karnataka Institute of Medical Science Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Clinical Anatomy, Hubli.
5. “Dr. Jawahar Y. Kedam Gold Medal Award” for best paper in Histology, Hubli.
6. “Mookambika Gold Medal Award” for the best paper presented at the annual KCA Conference by Dr. Mrs. S. Kantha Bangalore.

• The author should be a permanent Life member of KCA.
• No age limit for the author.
• Four sets* of hard copies of articles should reach the Secretary well in advance (atleast 45 days prior to conference) for evaluation.
*Note: – Of the four sets, only the first set should have the details of the Author, Co-authors, College Address, Mobile number, email address, etc. While other three sets should not have any author details, which is to be sent to the panel of judges for scrutiny.
• The author should mention to which category of award he/she is contesting.
• It is the duty of the Secretary along with Vice-Presidents & Treasurer to appoint a panel of judges to evaluate the work as per the following criteria: –
a. The paper should not have been presented or published anywhere.
b. Originality of the work is considered.
c. Recent advances involved.
d. How much extensive observation material present.
e. How much Academic / Clinical importance it involves.
• If the paper is selected, only then will the author be allowed to present the paper orally in the conference.
• In the conference the Secretary should again select a panel of three judges for oral evaluation, under following criteria:
a. Method of oral presentation, audio visual aids, discussion, time taken.
b. The duration of the presentation will be 10 minutes followed by 2 minutes for discussion / questioning. (Time limit may be extended by judges).
c. The dissertation, Ph.D work can be presented with further modification and recent advances. (Note: – with permission of authority concerned).

• The award paperswill be presented during the award session in the annual conferences of K.C.A.
• The award shall be given only to the presenting author in the form of Gold Medal and the certificates shall have the title of the paper and names of the rest of the authors.
• The awarded paper becomes the property of KCA which would be published in Journal of Anatomy’The awardee should correspond with the Editor for the publication& also bear the necessary printing charges.

B. Rules and regulations for “Dr. Mrs S. Kantha Gold medal award” for best paper published in “Journal of Clinical Anatomy” official Journal of KCA.
• Editor of the Journal and two other eminent anatomists will screen all the papers published in the Journal and send their recommendation for the award instituted by Dr. S. Kantha to the General Secretary of KCA for announcement.
• An award shall be given in the form of a certificate and Gold Medal made out of the yearly interest accrued on the sum deposited for this purpose. The name of the awardee will be announced in General Body meeting. However, the award will be presented in the succeeding KCA conference.
• If an awardee is found guilty of academic fraud, the executive committee will be free to cancel the award announced.
C. Rules and regulationsfor “Dr. Prakash H.S. Gold Medal Award” for the maximum papers published per year in KCA journal & in any other journal by life members of KCA.
• Articles published in the previous academic year of conference will be considered.
• Only original articles will be considered first. Original articles may be published either in hard copies or electronic format.
• Minimum of 2-3 articles should have been published in our KCA Journal.
• It should have been published in indexed journal only.
• Case presentations will only be considered in case of tie.
• The contestor should be first author only.
• The name of the author published / mentioned in all articles should be similar.
• These articles in hard copies, should be sent to the Editor of KCA Journal well in advance (minimum 45 days before conference) for consideration of award.
• The articles will be scrutinized by the Editor & Co-editor. After review they have to submit the results to the executive committee.
• Note: – A recipient of a “Dr. Prakash H.S. Gold Medal Award”cannot contest for next five years.

D. Rules and regulations for “Sushuratha Gold Medal Award” for Excellence in the field of Anatomy by Dr. N.M. Suresh, Bengaluru (Note: – Two awards are awarded in each year: – 1. Posthumous; 2. Lifetime): – Both the awardees will be selected by the Executive committee. It is the duty of the Secretary to inform the awardees / family members of awardees regarding the date, venue & time of conference, so that they can make arrangements to come to the conference to receive the award.

E. Rules and regulations for: –
*“Dr. B.R Ramesh Gold Medal Award” for the best outgoing postgraduate by Dr. Prakash B.S, Bengaluru;
*“Dr. P.S. Bhusaraddi Gold Medal award in Anatomy for MBBS” in RGUHS examination by Dr. P.S. Bhusaraddi, KIMS, Hubli;
*“Dr. Nagesh Gold Medal Award in Anatomy for BDS” in RGUHS examination by R.V. Dental College, Bengaluru.
*Note: – The Secretary should find out the highest scrorer for the above three awards & should inform the executive committee. He should also communicate with the awardees regarding the date, venue & time of conference, so that they can make arrangements to come to the conference to receive the award.
F. Rules and regulations for: –
a. “Shri G. Dayanand Oration Lecture” sponsored by SSIMS & RI, Hesargatta, Bengaluru.
b. “Dr. R. Viswanath Oration Lecture” sponsored by his students, Hubli 1984 batch (Images’84).
Note: – The EC committee should select the speakers for the oration lecture.

G. Donation for Awards: Those who wish to donate for various awards are requested to deposit the amount as under: –
a) Endowment Lecture – Rs 50,000/- and above.
b) Gold medals – Rs 30,000/- and above.
